To be called or sold as Scotch whisky (Scotland's National Drink) it has to be distilled in Scotland using only the finest Scottish ingredients; malted barley, water, and yeast, coupled with the distillation and maturation in oak casks for, by law, at least 3 years! This is the case whether it be offered for sale in a full-size or miniature bottle.
This indicates that the raw material is a barley malt, by itself fermented with yeast and distilled in a pot still. This produces a far superior whisky miniature to the common grain whisky miniature found in blends. Note however that just occasionally quality single grain whiskies can be found.
