This whisky is pale gold in colour. The nose starts a little more varnishy than the 15 year old Tomatin but is still honeyed, lightly floral and slightly cereally and malty, with a pleasant freshness, but more powerful. Other aromas that emerge are honey, Muscat grapes, apple peelings, whiffs of wood smoke, pears and a faint dustiness. The mouth has a very good attack, honeyed and nutty, rather close to the 15 year old but once again, with more presence. There are quite strong elements of malted barley, oak, ginger, pepper and dried apricots. In addition there are some hints of green tea.
