Go Direct – Online life insurance for the more discerning consumer
Article written by Ron Marston, January 14th January 2009
Having spent a bit of time, searching through the myriad of insurance companies and insurance brokers that are providing online insurance policies, I finally settled on the Go Direct website as a place to search for the most suitable life insurance policy. I wasn’t entirely sure what policy would be most suitable for a person such as me. Should I take term life insurance? An insurance policy that pays a lump sum after death, providing it was within the term. It is also one of the more affordable of the life insurance policies available. This particular policy appealed, however I needed to consider some of the potential options that can be added on to this type of life insurance policy. Some of the options that are available to add on to term life insurance policies include; Critical illness cover – an option whereby a diagnosed specified critical illness will result in the policy paying out a lump sum.
The Go Direct website neatly explained that this policy type may provide only a single pay out, rather than two separate pay outs if the policy is combined.
Terminal illness cover –this option to the policy, means that a lump sum is paid up front on diagnosis of a qualifying terminal illness. This type of cover is often attached to endowment policies. Waiver of premium –again this option would mean that in the advent of being sick, insurance premiums would be paid on behalf of the policy holder. All of these are important consideration to make when looking at a suitable online life insurance policy, and the layout of the Go Direct website, was clear and concise in explaining many of the different types of life insurance jargon. I further looked at the decreasing term life insurance as a further option. A life insurance policy that Go Direct explained, would pay out on death, but the amount of cover decreases over the term of the policy.
There are some benefits to a life insurance policy such as this, as it is probably the cheapest of the life insurance policies, and it ties in well with covering outstanding mortgage payments. However for a person, who may well want to provide security in the form of a guaranteed sum on death this form of life insurance is not particularly good. Once again there are options to have critical illness cover, terminal illness cover, waiver of premium, guaranteed premiums and trusts. What I have been impressed with is Go Direct’s commitment to making purchasing online insurance simple and quick. The information that one should consider when buying life insurance, is prominent through the procedure. I would certainly endorse buying online life insurance and although there are a range of other companies available, it is important to find one that provides you with the full range of facts, and has a commitment to finding the most competitive insurance quote available.Online insurance is something that anyone who likes to find value for money should consider.
